What is interesting for me this past week is with regard to food I have been taken outside my comfort zone. I am one for eating wholesome foods usually, I am a cook and a baker, not by profession but I make everything from scratch.
I’ve used a photo challenge the last couple of days as an excuse to share photos of my travels. Believe me there will be plenty more when I have time to post. Today the children wanted to play on the water slides mainly so we did just that. I was pretty tired from the last few days activities so some down time while the children played was welcomed.
What is interesting for me this past week is with regard to food I have been taken outside my comfort zone. I am one for eating wholesome foods usually, I am a cook and a baker, not by profession but I make everything from scratch. I don’t like pre made or prepackaged foods so much, mainly because of my food allergies so I am used to cooking.
Although I have travelled a lot and have been used to eating foods from around Europe coming to Turkey has been an interesting thing. The tastes are very different, there’s a huge language barrier too. I’ve had to learn very quickly the words for the foods that I am allergic to. I have already had one incident involving a cookie or biscuit type thing I got in a patisserie (that’s another story). Apart from that I have enjoyed what I have eaten so far, it has inspired me for trying some new things when i get back home later this month.
‘In the Pink’ from the site www.beckybofwinchester.com. Go check it out if you want to see more. My entry for today’s instalment of in the pink.
Every morning in the restaurant there is a wonderful display of carved watermelons, they keep changing and each time I am keen to see what is new. I’ve tried to photograph a few, sometimes I have forgotten to take my phone in with me while getting my breakfast. Here’s today’s watermelon … he’s a little fierce, don’t you think?
The theme for squares this month is ‘In the Pink‘ and the one rule as always is that your main photograph must be square. After that the world is your oyster, or should I say flamingo?! To help you get started here are some ideas you might want to consider;
1 ‘In the Pink’ – means perfect condition or in good health, so that could be human or not!
2 ‘Tickled Pink‘ – means delighted, so I’m thinking happy, fun and of course delighted. That could be you or the subject of your photograph.
3 Pink – you can of course simply share anything that is coloured pink
4 There is an extra challenge for those of you up for it – can you manage to combine two of these, or maybe even all three?
Squares is a daily challenge, so your photographs can be from the archives or brand new. If daily is too difficult, then feel free to post every other day, weekly or even just once in the month. No matter how often you post I will include you in my regular pink galleries. Don’t forget though to keep your photo square, and to pingback with #InthePink.
