So fattening but delicious, I made these for the coffee morning and again just last week. The trouble about these is that they don’t last very long, the whole family just swoop in and eat them.
3 multipacks of mars bars. 12 bars in total, they are 39g per bar.
250g of butter
3 tablespoons of golden syrup
8 cups of Rice Krispies
400g approx Chocolate to melt for the topping.
Melt the mars bars, butter and syrup in a large pan over a low/medium heat.
This might take a while because of the nougat-y centre in the mars bars.
Whisk the lumps out of the chocolate mix with a fork.
Stir in the eight cups of Rice Krispies.
Pour the Rice Krispies mix into shallow foil trays/brownie pans (as pictured).
Place in the fridge for two hours to set.
Melt the chocolate in the microwave and pour over the top of the chilled Krispies mix.
Allow to set in the fridge again before you cut into squares.
I found it easier to turn the whole slab of chilled caramel squares out and cut with a very sharp knife on my chopping board. Everyone is different in their methods, you might even find it easier to put your knife in hot water first.
