With Saturdays I find the day is one extreme or the other, real crazy or quiet yet nothing ever in the middle. There is usually something going on in our house.
There will be one kid going here, and another will want a lift there. Then there’s jobs that I need help with that other half won’t have time to do during the week. The usual laundry needs to be done and I have a habit of baking too on top of any places we ought to be going.
What I also don’t understand is how I feel I could sleep in during the week and on a Saturday I am wide awake at 7am. The day of the week where I’d like to sleep till 8:30 or 9am, wouldn’t that be nice if I could? So we decided to get up and start our day at seven, but now it’s not even eleven pm and I am burnt out.
Other half was weeding in the village this morning, he heads up the Ulster In Bloom Group for the village. More about what it entails Is here. Afterwards I invited all the helpers back to our house for a cup of tea and some baked goodies. It went down very well and we had a pleasant morning. Oh I had been burning a new candle I got last week and everyone commented on the lovely scent when they came to my house this morning. I know it’s a really random thing to write about in the middle of a page, but here’s the candle. I can recommend it if you are looking for a nice new one.
We spent the afternoon trying to tidy up the room at the back of the house that overlooks the garden. Other half had wanted to go in and paint it but he had underestimated how much time he’d need to tidy and prepare the room. So we did half today, and plan on doing the other half tomorrow. The new plan is that next Saturday he gets the paint roller out and gets stuck in. We will see how that pans out, you know what they say about best laid plans. It will be nice if it gets done, I really am not that bothered as the walls are a plain cream colour, but he wants it freshened up.
I’ve also started a new baby blanket, this one has diagonal stripes in lilac, purple and cream. Something different from the others. The colours in the photograph are not necessarily true as it was taken this evening under electric light, as I progress I’ll get a daylight pic.
So this entry is turning out to be a total hodge podge of things, yet nothing of any major importance. I did bake some shortbread, however I’m going to post that recipe separately.
