I am currently working on another baby blanket for the set of ten I am making, I am using the yarn I got yesterday. YARN My daughter says it’s ice cream colours, I hadn’t thought that way but she is right.
So apart from a couple of phone calls I had received the day was ordinary. Oh, Sol did get a ‘new-to-her’ bike this afternoon. It came from our minister, his daughter had it and did not use it so they gave it to someone else. That person was finished with it after several years decided to give it back to him, though he had no use for it. So last Sunday he asked us if Sol would get use from it. Sol’s bike had recently broken and needed repair so we told him that Sol would appreciate it. Her bike was getting small anyways and she was going to ask for one for her birthday, so that would work out good. We collected it today and it was the perfect size for her, it also looked like it hasn’t been used a lot apart from being a little dusty from being stored, the tyres looked to have no wear. Sol is extremely happy now, she’s back on two wheels. I think it’s funny sometimes how things work out, our minister could have picked anyone to give the bike to but he picked Sol.
This evening other half arrived in late, he had a long day at work today. However he thought of me being in the house all day, also he had been in the car all day so he offered to take me shopping. We went to the clothes store I liked, I didn’t end up getting anything there. We went next door to the supermarket and got a few bottles of lemonade and that was it. Hardly an exciting evening, but nice to get out and spend time together with no kids.
I made some brownies, which interestingly have disappeared. Not sure where they have gone … 🤔
Brownie Recipe (one bowl wonder)
If you make artisan bread there’s a good chance you use a sourdough starter.
Have you ever found that you have too much of it? Do you store it in the fridge or on the counter top? I store mine in the fridge so I don’t have to feed it every day. I don’t discard my starter I always just use it to make bread with or something else. I don’t use it every day and I never find I have too much.
I came across a sourdough brownie recipe and adapted it to suit my own style of baking. Next time I am going to try it with less eggs, the recipe asked for four, but I feel that’s a lot. Anyhow here it is as I made it ….
3/4 cup of sourdough starter, doesn’t have to be ripe
1/4 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cup of caster sugar
Very scant 1/2 cup of melted butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Preheat the oven to 180C/350F
Grease or line a brownie pan or a cake tin. The exact size is probably unimportant.
Put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well.
Pour the brownie mix into your baking pan.
Bake for 25-30 minutes. Check it after 25mins.
